Matthew Brinker is a former Florida Army National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot who served two deployments to Iraq (2008-2009 & 2011-2012). Following his military service, Matthew transitioned to corporate aviation, where he flew professionally for several years. In 2015, seeking a more fulfilling path, he returned to college to explore new career options. At Jacksonville University, he earned a degree in sociology and rediscovered his passion for psychology, particularly in supporting fellow veterans and those impacted by military service.
This newfound purpose led Matthew to Adler University, where he completed specialized studies in military psychology, equipping him to address the unique mental health needs of service members. Committed to his mission, Matthew then began working in mental health as a technician and progressed to the role of adjunct therapist at a residential treatment facility.
Currently, Matthew is pursuing his master’s in mental health counseling at Capella University, with an anticipated graduation in 2025. He is a registered mental health counselor intern, with additional certifications in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and personality disorders through PESI. Matthew is preparing for his practicum and internship, working toward full licensure to deepen his impact in the mental health field.
Driven by a deep respect for his country and a commitment to those who have sacrificed for its future, Matthew embodies the spirit of unity and service: “United we stand, divided we fall.” – Patrick Henry, 1799.
