At The Refuge, we understand that seeking treatment, understanding the financial options, and ultimately beginning the admission process can be intimidating. Let us guide you along every step of the process.

About Our Admissions Process

At The Refuge, A Healing Place, we know how hard it is to ask for help, and we know how heavy the phone can feel when you go to make that initial call. This is why we have made it our mission to ensure that you feel comfortable from the moment you contact us and throughout the duration of your time in our care. Knowing that feelings of anxiety and intimidation can be prominent when first deciding to engage in treatment, our team of compassionate professionals are dedicated to making the admissions process one that is as smooth, easy-to-navigate, and comforting as possible. You do not need to feel like you are in this alone, because you are not. We are here to help you achieve the true and lasting healing that you deserve in an environment that offers you unwavering dignity, support, and respect.

The First Step

Our knowledgeable and caring staff of professionals is ready and willing to help you begin the process of admissions. You can begin by making a simple phone call, where you will speak with a live receptionist and be immediately directed to an admissions staff member. You will never have to worry about speaking with a recording. Instead, you will be greeted by a friendly admissions team member who will guide you as you make this most important step in your life.

What to Expect When You Call

The admissions team member with whom you speak will first gather initial information about your current situation and the presenting concerns that led you to make the call. Any and all information that you provide will be held in the strictest confidence. They will then provide you with information about The Refuge and our programming options, including treatment tracks, average lengths of stay, and costs. Any questions that you have will also be answered.

The admissions team member will then assist you in determining a day and time which is most convenient for you to come in and take part in a free, confidential assessment so that we can determine if our programming will be the most optimal fit for meeting your needs.

What to Expect During the Admissions Process

During your assessment, you will be asked to provide information pertaining to the following:

  • Details about why you are seeking treatment
  • Description of substance abuse, if applicable, including your drug(s) of choice and most recent pattern of use
  • Evaluation of any co-occurring disorders or concerns that may exist (e.g. eating disorder, sex/love addiction, self-harming behaviors, etc.)
  • Trauma history
  • Medication history
  • Treatment history
  • Diagnosis history
  • Other medical conditions and/or needs
  • Referral source information

If applicable and permitted, we will request client records from the last treatment facility that was attended and/or histories from current or past physicians, therapists, or other practitioners.

Once this information has been gathered, our team will discuss the information with our medical director and clinical team so as to determine whether or not we will fully be able to meet all of your needs. If it is determined that we are the optimal place for you to receive care, we will then discuss which level of care and programming options will be the most effective course of treatment for you. We will discuss these options with you right away.

If you agree to receive our care and feel comfortable with the initial treatment plan that we have created for you, we will then begin the process of coordinating admission. This includes setting a date for admission, answering any questions you may have, making travel arrangements if need be, and taking care of any other logistics.

Your care and recovery are extremely important to us, so if we determine that we may not be able to fully meet all of your needs, we will work with you to find a referral for another program that may be able to do so.
