Separating Mental Health & Addiction Treatment

In the past, interventions for substance abuse and treatment for mental health disorders were conducted separately. These disorders were considered different types of syndromes, requiring radically different treatment approaches. There were often different treatment centers for substance abuse and mental health disorders, each only focused upon their area of specialty.

Serious mental health problems were considered the most crucial, so numerous people who suffered from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and other serious psychiatric conditions were never treated for their drug abuse problems. Similarly, many individuals successfully treated for substance abuse in the short term never received care for underlying mental health issues. This was later identified to be a significant risk factor for relapse.

Why Co-Occurring Disorder Treatment Works

In order to ensure an individual receives complete and comprehensive treatment for all the difficulties they are experiencing, an evaluation must be conducted to determine all the problems, both those apparent and those underlying the presenting problem. In order to obtain the best outcomes for the person’s overall well-being, both sets of problems must be treated simultaneously.

The caring and experienced staff at our residential co-occurring disorder treatment center are trained specialists who can help you work through substance abuse issues as well as mental health issues at the same time. We continue the assessment process throughout your entire stay in order to catch any new symptoms that may emerge during your treatment. At our treatment center, we will make certain we have done all we can to identify the difficulties you are struggling with and helped you on the path to recovery for each.

Our Commitment

We are committed to continuity of care and so any subsequent treatment options that are recommended will be staffed by trained professionals who can help you progress further in your recovery efforts. This process will enable you to heal completely so you can live a life filled with happiness, satisfaction, and productivity while enjoying the company of loved ones and friends.
